Cocker Spaniels
just being Cockers
What is a Cocker Spaniel? Cockers are the most in-your-face, loving, brilliant, manipulative, sensitive, demanding, conniving, versatile, enthusiastic dogs you’ll ever know – my Doxie, Snoopy, runs a close second.
These are not your lay-down-in-the-corner quietly dogs. Cockers demand to be with you. They must be with you in order to live, to breathe, to survive. You are their God. Are you worthy of such devotion?
What do Cockers do? Cockers are happy people dogs by nature and love to please us. Cockers are truly a lot of dog in a small body, so they’re easy to live with size wise in apartments or homes with small yards. They’re not just beautiful, they’re very bright, and their intelligence, size and personality make them very versatile. If they’re not taking over your favorite chair or hypnotizing you with their doe eyes, you can find them performing in the show ring, training for obedience, agility, rally, field work and/or hunting. Not to mention working as therapy dogs in hospitals and nursing homes, bringing smiles and sighs to young and old alike. What don’t Cockers do? Now that’s a tough one.
Where to learn about Cockers Right here — from the people that love Cockers the most — their owners, The American Spaniel Club, Inc., local Cocker clubs, responsible breeders, and the rescuers. These are the people who focus on loving and caring for Cockers now, and for the future of the breed.
