feeding your Cocker Spaniel
SNOODS - What are they? Cocker owners know that long Cocker ears get really messy and stinky when they fall into the food bowl while Cockers eat. Snoods to the rescue! A snood is simply fabric sewn together like a tube with elastic at both ends. Snoods fit right over the Cocker's head and hold the ears inside and out of the food bowl. Of course, it's sized to fit a Cocker's head, so it's not too loose or too tight around the ears, which could cut off circulation. Having a few sets of Snoods for each dog will save you from having to wash their ears after meals and will keep your dogs ears cleaner between groomings.
Well, you can't please them all, but you can count on this: Cockers love food, and it doesn't take them long to realize that if they wear their snood, they get their food! As soon as my three see their food bowls, and I pick up their snoods, they literally jump up trying to put their heads through. They know that No Snood, No Food is our rule!
Bitches’ Britches
(a/k/a Princess Panties, Pet Bloomers) are for Females. They’re just like diapers or panties that have a special opening for your dog’s tail. These are used for females for potty training, incontinence or when the female goes into season. Bitch’s Britches have elastic in the legs and waist to hold them tighter and Velcro closures to adjust them. You will usually be offered options for lining them, and you can place pads inside them when needed.
Keep your girl in style with a lots of beautiful designs!

Belly Bands are for male dogs. Belly Bands can be used for potty training, curtailing the inside-the-house leg lifter, or for sick or elderly dogs that have lost bladder control. These are material sized in with and length for your male that either have elastic on both sides or are adjustable with a Velcro closure. You could place a sanitary napkin inside the belly band if needed to catch urine.
It’s always good to have a few on hand so you can change off or dress them up!

Where do you buy snoods, belly bands and bitches' britches? You can get these from many rescue groups. You can also find them at Cocker Spaniel events you attend. I recommend checking with Life's Little Paws rescue, or any of the rescues listed in our rescue section. You'll also find a beautiful selection at Designer Doggie.
Snoods are great for any long-ear breed, so don't hesitate to ask if they have them in larger or smaller sizes for any breed with long ears.
